The Northeastern Pennsylvania Alumni Chapter covers the area from Williamsport over to the NJ border with most events concentrated in the Scranton & Wilkes-Barre area. The Chapter offers a diverse calendar of events including outings at the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees, dinner with speakers from the College and welcoming the incoming first year students

The Northeast Pennsylvania Alumni Chapter hosted a reception and book-signing featuring Ilan Peleg, Charles A. Dana Professor of Government and Law at The Westmoreland Club in Wilkes-Barre.
Honored guest, Ilan Peleg, Charles A. Dana Professor of Government and Law, spoke about U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East and signed copies of his latest book, Democratizing the Hegemonic State: Political Transformation in the Age of Identity.
Professor Peleg earned his Ph.D. from Northwestern University. Dr. Peleg's special interests include the Middle East, and international relations. He is the recipient of Marquis Distinguished Teaching Award, Jones Award for teaching and research, and Van Artsdalen Prize for scholarship. Dr. Peleg serves as Coeditor of Negotiating Culture and Human Rights and editor of Israel Studies Bulletin and has led study tours to the Middle East.

Chapter President Dick Hughes III '83 and his wife Ruthie hosted a group of 32 alumni, spouses, parents and friends for a holiday reception featuring Lafayette Head Football Coach Frank Tavani at the East Mountain Inn in Wilkes Barre, PA. Chapter Vice President Jamie Anzalone '83, former Lafayette football player under Coach Tavani, introduced the Coach. Coach Tavani related stories about the football program and the development of the new Bourger Varsity House and the renovation of the Fisher Stadium and Field. After his talk, he entertained questions from the group. The evening was a great success!
Chapter Executive Committee member Dave Schwager '84 announced that he and Michele Dempsey '94 are working on the next chapter event for late February. Details will be posted on this chapter page and in the alumni online calendar of events. Invitations will be mailed six weeks in advance of the event.
Since 1998, the Northeast PA alumni chapter has offered a scholarship to a first year student from their area. With the generous support from alumni and parents. the scholarship award has grown from $1500 to $2500. This year's recipient, Brandon Benjamin '06, hails from Townad, PA and attended Towanda HS.
