Chianti in a Tuscan Villa
September 2008

What a privilege it was to travel in September with our alumni on the first trip hosted by the Alumni Office since 2001. We chose Italy, in particular the Chianti region of Tuscany, for the breathtaking countryside and its historic wealth of artistic and architectural treasures left by the Etruscans, Romans and Renaissance masters. Our group stayed in a lovely villa in Tavarnelle Val di Pesa and over the course of the week participated in numerous lectures, tasted local wines and savory cuisine and visited the exquisite and historic towns of Volterra, San Gimignano, La Chiantigiana, Lucca and Florence. What a week we had! The trip was expertly orchestrated by Alumni Holidays, which allowed our group to relax and enjoy the trip more fully. Below are some testimonials. I hope you will join us on one of our upcoming trips.

“I just wanted to let you know what a fabulous trip Ray and I had to Tuscany with our Lafayette alumni group. From the moment we arrived in Florence to the last day of the trip, everything was perfectly organized. The AHI Travel Group was extremely professional and selected tour guides that were incredibly knowledgeable, very personable, and really made the trip entirely successful. The best part of the trip, (besides the pasta and wine), was meeting and traveling with fellow Lafayette alumni from all over the country. We truly feel that we have made friends that will last a lifetime and we hope to be able to travel with them again on another alumni trip. Many thanks Sherri, for all that you did to make this experience so worthwhile and memorable.”

“As you know we don't take tours, but have wanted to visit Tuscany for a very long time. When the brochure arrived we made some phone calls and joined the group in Florence. To sum it up: we'd do it again! The whole week was extremely well organized and covered all the essential towns. The content of the lectures was excellent and an important part of the whole trip. We liked the concept of the day trips from one location and staying in one hotel. The rooms and meals at the villa were excellent and our tour guide was superb. We could be talked into another trip!”
